It’s Time for the Annual Basket Fundraiser!

Every year in December the Harris Memorial Library tries to hold its Annual Silver Tea in conjunction with our Annual Basket Fundraiser. This year, though, has brought new challenges with COVID-19. As a result, we aren’t able to hold the Silver Tea, but we’re doing our fundraiser, and the baskets are here!

Baskets are created and donated by the Board members and Director Shannon, and businesses that want to contribute (special thanks this year to Otego’s Sun, Moon and Earth, Otego Family Dental, and Otsdawa Creek Candles for jumping in). Director Shannon inventories, photographs, and then shares the baskets online, and people are invited to make an appointment to come in, see the baskets in person, and find out how to donate.

Follow us on Facebook (@HarrisLibrary) to see all the photos, request an appointment, or connect. Want an appointment without Facebook? Call the library at 988-6661.

Please support all our local businesses–and, if you haven’t already, check out the ones mentioned above!

Escape Room Fundraiser!

Two rooms filled with puzzles to solve, a ticking clock, and a prize at the end–if you succeed! This fundraiser is ideal for groups of 3 to 6 and we’re asking a $10 donation per person to attempt both rooms. All money goes back into our little but lively library’s budget, so get a group together and call in your RSVP so you can book a time.

This Friday Night Have a Spooky Good Time at Our Fundraiser!

We are so excited about tomorrow night’s visit by the NY Shadow Chasers! They’ll do a brief lecture, starting at 6pm, about the paranormal and the scientific equipment they use to document and sometimes debunk situations, as well as their personal experiences investigating the paranormal. Then, if you’ve got your tickets for the investigation, we’ll break into groups and explore the space ourselves! It promises to be a wonderful and unique event–perfect for the Halloween season! Tickets for the lecture are for a donation of $5 each and for the investigation the donation is an additional $15. Tickets must be gotten in advance so we don’t outdo our capacity.

Playing in Paint I: Acrylic Flip, Pour, & Drag Workshop

Acrylic Pouring and Fluid Art is all the rage on YouTube these days and Shannon’s decided it’d be fun to share the techniques here at the library in a series of monthly art-related workshops starting with Playing in Paint I: Acrylic Flip, Pour, & Drag. These are the basic techniques you’ll learn before being able to do lots of fun things on your own. For $15 you’ll get two canvases, the paints, simple tools you can also find at home which are needed to do two paintings. You must RSVP by 2/7 for this first class and put $5 (nonrefundable) down for your ticket as seating is limited. Come and spend a couple hours playing in paint and experimenting with this low-impact and easily artistically achievable form of painting.
